Implementation: Methodology

Although we still see the use of a singular vector map for the entire world, is is more performance-tuned to create the map through tiling of smaller images. This method allows the viewable area to be viewed quickly while the surrounding area loads in an on-demand basis (and buffer).

To pinpoint a particular tile on the map, we need only to reference the (x, y) pair of a zoom level (z).

Combining the tile id with the pixel coordinate (px, py) on the tile allows us to anchor any point on this zoomable map.
